Inaugural post

In the native language of Vanuatu, Bislama, you will often be asked “afta?” - which means “and then what?”  This blog will be our attempt to answer that question for all of our friends and family back in the States.  As we journey into a new phase of our life and work in Vanuatu, that of leaving the capital city to take up (partial) residence in Tulwei Village on Malekula Island, we look forward to using this medium as a means to let you know what happened next.

Of course, we will not have internet access in the village, but we plan to go to “town” at least once a week, at which time we will be able to download emails and update our blog.  So, we will do our best to update on a weekly basis.

We are tentatively planning to begin our first rotation in the village on January 28, 2011.  Between now and then, I will be blogging about Malekula, just to whet your appetite and get you caught up to speed on the work there.

Please check back, and let us know what you think.  You’d be amazed how encouraging it is to know that someone out there is reading with interest!  Ale, nekis taem nomo!

  4. I'm new to this blog thing too - you've apparently helped several of us make the jump into this final form of 21st century communication! Can't wait to see what Tulwei Village is like. Praying for you all always ~
